Things finally pick up a tad in these two episodes. *sigh* Still disappointing. I do appreciate that the art can look quite pretty – for example I liked the image of the forrest looking from the ground up – but the story is lacking.

In episode 8 something finally happens. We get an ugly monster to hunt down and attack. They look pretty damn gross!! I kind of wish that there was more brain power required to find this “Nostradamus’ key” rather than just snapping mobile phone pictures everywhere. I think I’ll give up on this one. If this dramatically turns around then let me know!!!

Episode 5’s ending left us with a cliffhanger…what happened to the real Kozue?? Is she trapped in the after life dimension?! Just as I was thinking it might get a bit exciting from here, this episode reveals that she simply forgot to put back on her glasses while she was in that world. -_-” *sigh* What a waste!?!

Luckily, the only redeeming feature to this week’s 25 minutes is that Maya and Mr Loser reconciles their differences and will once again cooperate and strive to find Nostradamus’ key. Hopefully the next episode will be better. So far, apart of episode 1 or 2, this anime has just been downhill. My patience has somewhat been extended by “Mio’s” voice…

After that draggy episode 3, the story picks back up the speed in episode 4. Fumiaki finds Maya in an underground cave and there they find the missing student but they’re in the nest of the flying monster!! Anyone beside me thought of ALIENS!?! haha Was it in Alien 3 where Sigourney Weaver saves the little girl and looks up to find herself in the heart of the alien’s nest!?! That was such a COPY of that scene!!! hahaha Not that I mind but just thought it was kind of amusing. Anyway, that loser Fumiaki guy pees in his pants and speeds out of the cave leaving behind Maya and the unconscious student. Luckily we have weird Frankenstein’s brother (the guy with the metal rods) and a worker with Hulk-like muscle power that carries with him a MASSIVE spanner. They save the day by bashing the daylights out of those moths. The thing that REALLY annoys me is how he lies to the girl saying that he saved the day!!! *SCOFF* *THROWS UP*

Episode 5 was a tad disappointing again…*sigh* what’s with this anime?! It seems to lack a consistent flow of suspense in its story!! It has seriously been downhill since episode 3…such a disappointment.

Traction on this anime has slowed…in this episode Maya suspects that the rumour of a tengu (a legendary Japanese demon/creature) might be more real than she initially thought and might even be linked to Nostradamus’ key. She sends the man to the job but that lazy bugger just runs off to have curry every night at this teeny little restaurant…all because of that girl! I find her SERIOUSLY annoying!!! Anyone else agree? Not even a tad KYAAAAAA worthy at all!!!

Maya stumbles upon some old historical site and figures that the tengu might be there (no idea how she came to that conclusion) and lo and behold that giant bat looking thing with massive red eyes is there. She manages to take a shot but it comes DIVING straight at her!! Some suspense at the end but overall a pretty disappointing episode.

This episode was pretty scaaary!!!! >_< I’ll explain later…it was near the end of the episode.

So taking off from the end of episode 1, our two leads meet for the first time – and it’s not a friendly one!!! hahaha Uchida, the guy, explains that he is a time agent sent from the future. He explains that aliens attacked Earth and much of civilization has been wiped out. The idea is that the Nostradamus prediction that the world will end in 2012 came true. Luckily, those that survived picked up on some alien technology that allows them to travel back in time.  He’s traveling back in time to 1999 to prevent this from happening. He has to find “Nostradamus’ key” which is said to be on the school grounds. Maya at first does not believe him.

Maya now is the Headmistress of Occult Academy and resides in the same building as his father. While she was showering (handy!) she senses someone. This is the bit that is freaky! There are shadows, footsteps, bloody messages and eventually we do get a brief look at Mr. Invisible Monster. OMG! The bit where footsteps appear on the back of Uchiru freaked me out!!!! >_<

While the two was being attacked by the monster, they are saved by this blinding gold light and it turns out to be Maya’s father’s diary. The book has been filled with spells that are design to protect Maya. Her father says that he has spent his years researching into the Nostradamus prophecies and he discovered that they can be stopped if you can find and destroy the “key”. He has been doing this but apparently there are some bad guys around that doesn’t like his work and are trying to kill him. “If you see this diary, it will mean they have achieved their purpose.” Maya finally believes Uchiru and agrees to cooperate and together they will both find the key and who killed her father.

*TAKES A DEEP BREATH*

WOAH! That took me a while to explain!!! This is getting a bit interesting especially when they’ve thrown in the idea of Nostradamus. Just the other day, someone at work was talking about the world ending in 2012!! *raised brow* Hmm…

Interesting…it’s the first time I’ve watched an anime of this genre…what kind of genre? Horror…supernatural and it looks like there is some whacky comedy thrown in for good measure. I didn’t expect the comedy aspect but in episode 1 you get to see the lead character, Maya, making a few silly faces. She looks pretty cool and can definitely kick some arse!! Hahaha Best of all, she’s voiced by Youko Hikasa , Mio from K-ON!! *BEAM* Oh and the art was quite impressive. Nice!

So in episode one the first thing we see is a time travelling agent that is killed by some humongous bat looking monster and doesn’t make it back to “base” – well except for his hand…hahaha apparently he’s the 5th one and they only have one left – guess that must be our lucky male lead. ^_^

There’s not much this season in my opinion, which means there’s no YURI!!! **CRIES** Well there’s a teeny bit in Strike Witches (another reason why I’m watching it).  k1y0 has been powering through a few animes already and feedback so far to me is “meh”!

I will at least give the below a try (broadly in order of preference from most to least wanting to watch):

(a) Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin (aka Occult Academy)

Launch date: 5 July 2010

Plot: It’s all about the supernatural – the daughter of the former headmaster of an occult academy who dies in 1999 and a man, his background unknown, that time travels from 2012.

Why I’m watching it: The plot sounds interesting! I generally do like supernatural things as long as it’s not TOO scary! haha I figured I’ll try something different for a change. There’s also Youko Hikasa!!! Mio from K-ON!! ^_^

(b) Strike Witches Season 2

Launch date: 7 July 2010

I haven’t watched this before but I’m sold by Sapphire Onee-chan’s post. ^_^ I’m still not a fan of the “missing pants” but I’ll give it a go…

(c) Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi

Launch date: 1 July 2010

Plot: Romance comedy with fairy tale parodies. Ryoko along with her partner (girl again), Ringo, runs around fixing things in the school. Oh and just to balance things out, obviously a guy is thrown in.

Why I’m watching it: No idea what to expect from the storyline but OMG the SEIYUU!!! It has a heap of seiyuu that I like!!! Shizuka Ito, Aki Toyosaki (Yui from K-ON!), Ayako Kawasumi (Chikane from Kannazuki no Miko!!), Rie Kugimiya (Touko in Marimite and Yuuki in Saki) AND Yui Horie (*JAW DROP* Yuuki from Vampire Knight, Eri from School Rumble)!!!! Recognise the voice in the trailer!?!! hehe

Oh and of course I will be watching Sono Hanabira

Gokigenyou!
