You are currently browsing the tag archive for the ‘Ryoko Hirosue’ tag.
On top of Kazuya Kamenashi’s in episode 3, it has been confirmed that Gackt and Ryoko Hirosue will be guest appearing in episode 1!!! Another reason to check it out on 23 May when it goes on air!!! I wonder what rating it’ll get!?! I’m a fan of Ryoko so I’m tempted to watch…though I shouldn’t be watching any TV at the moment!!! >_< More details at Tokyograph.
Surely by now you have probably heard of some amazing Japanese movie that swept up this year’s Best Foreign Film of the Year at the Academy Awards. You haven’t?! NO WORRIES! That’s what I’m here for! LOL
The movie is called Okuribito おくりびと, or more commonly known as Departures in the Western markets. I just watched it this week and decided it was DEFINITELY worth a post! Breathtaking would be an appropriate word. It’s also completely fresh. At first I was a little worried that it might be a bit slow and boring at parts (I find that jmovies are sometimes a hit or miss OR you need to be fully charged prior to watching it) but it wasn’t at all!! The story is a little odd but don’t be scared by it. Give it a go. It’s DEFINITELY worth checking out!!!
Japanese official website + Japanese trailer
The English version of the trailer is available here but I think the Japanese one presents a much more accurate picture of the movie.
Story
Daigo (Motoki Masahiro) is a professional cellist in a small orchestra but just as he thought life was going well, he is told the group is disbanded. Along with his wife, he returns to his hometown in Yamagata and starts looking for a job. He makes way to NK Agent, a travel agency he guesses, as the ad had described itself as dealing with ‘departures’. No experience required. Good pay and short hours? Yep – sounds good.
Edit: I have added a music file ripped off from the closing scenes! Check it out! It’s overwhelming and powerful!
Before I start rambling, I must say that I am REALLY impressed by Rollins! Not only do the subs look great but they pumped out the hard subs about a week after the episode was broadcasted! That’s honestly as fast as any group can go! If you’re watching their works, please leave a word of thanks over at D-Addicts!
Anyway, back to Triangle…
My initial impression in the first 5 minutes: murder, tension, anticipation, a struggle with time, statute of limitations, 15 years later, 10 years later…”what the HECK is going to happen next?”…oh, France…(yay Hirosue!!)
The above was honestly my initial thoughts as I watched the first FIVE minutes. That’s a lot of stuff running through my head. The style was all somewhat time driven and the background music brought the tension up a notch or two higher. I’m thinking…this is looking promising…very promising…
The new drama season in Japan has started! YAY! Check this spot out for the latest rundown of what’s being subbed or not! What’s the point of a great drama (like Last Friends) if it isn’t subbed, right?
Now for the ones that catch my eye:
Genre: Medical + drama
Actors: Eita (yay!!), Satomi Ishihara
Broadcast date: 12 January
Fansub groups: GiriGiri (soft), TimeLesSub (hard)
EITA!! YAY!! One of my favourite Japanese actors! Can’t wait to see more of him! He plays one of the five medical students who are studying forensic pathology. His character is bright and is known for his great perceptive skills and strong intuition. Together, the students work through various mysteries. Another point worth noting is that the screenwriter is Shigeki Kaneko who was also responsible for Proposal Daisakusen.
There is a mystery suspense thriller drama that will be reaching us in January! The protagonist will be played by Yosuke Eguchi who is a doctor turned detective. Goro Inagaki will play another detective and I guess they’ve thrown Ryoko Hirosue for some extra tension! She will playing an artist in Paris. Hahahahaha It’s been a while since I watched Ryoko (actually that’s not true…I watched Yasuko to Kenji!!?!) so I’m looking forward to this! The drama is said to be filled with unexpected twists. Ooooh….
Below is Tokyograph’s excerpt and some details from Sanspo:
Fuji TV is producing a drama series called “Triangle,” scheduled to air next season. Yosuke Eguchi will be the star of the show, supported by SMAP’s Goro Inagaki and actress Ryoko Hirosue.
The series is described as a mystery/suspense story, starting with the murder of a 10-year-old girl in 1984. 15 years later, after the case goes unsolved and passes the statute of limitations, a doctor named Ryoji Goda (Eguchi) suddenly quits from his hospital and eventually becomes a detective. In 2008, he meets a traveling artist (Hirosue) in Paris, and shortly after Goda’s return to Japan, he becomes involved in the expired murder case when another detective (Inagaki) receives an anonymous phone call.
Aside from Paris, where filming is currently taking place, the show’s settings also include Tokyo, Osaka, and Shanghai.
“Triangle” will premiere on January 6, airing every Tuesday at 10:00pm.
I am currently up to episode 5 but even with episode 1 I knew this one was going to be a barrel of laughs! I was seriously slapping my thighs and giggling (quite stupidly) in that first hour!
Just to give you a brief background, we have two pairs of siblings. In both cases, the parents have passed away. On the left, you have the older brother, Kenji, who is now a manga artist but used to be the leader of a biker gang. He is loud, fairly rude and imposes unreasonable rules on the sister, Yasuko – he basically treats her like she’s 5 still. Of course, he has the “strictly no guys” rule in place. On the other side, you have Erika, the older sister who is now a florist but conveniently, ALSO used to be the head of a biker gang (ladies only of course)! The brother, Tsubaki, is a your typical A-grade student. He’s meant to be good looking but not to me! As expected, Yasuko falls for Tsubaki but the twist is that Erika actually has a HUGE crush on Kenji! But, these older pair had crossed paths in their biker days so Kenji does not have a great impression of her – often calling her a bitch etc which then pisses her off and ends up losing the chance to confess her love. It is honestly quite a hilarious storyline! It’s all comedy with exaggerated acting – typical Japanese style but I think it works! I’m halfway through and still enjoying it!
Let’s meet the two faced Kenji & Erika!!
Btw, looking at the storyline, clearly there will be some “brother/sister save me!” scenes! In those instances, there is a similarity to Gokusen. I’ll post some hilarious scenes later.
This one is good to watch if you want something relaxing and not too straining on the brain. Even better if you don’t want to be completely hooked. Though this is enjoyable to watch, I’m not dying to watch the next episode. More later!
Fansubs
Almost forgot to mention, to watch this with English subs, check out SBK’s subbing – it’s available at D-Addicts. Have fun!
Now that we’re more than halfway through the drama season, I went to have a look how ratings have gone. Unsurprisingly, Code Blue is leading the way which started off at a high of 21.2% and has so far averaged 15.5%. Although I liked Proposal Daisakusen, it was more the nostalgic feel of the drama that really attracted me. It reminded me of my own uni and high school years – also don’t forget the amazing background music!! Anyway, all I’m saying is that it definitely wasn’t Tomohisa that I fell in love for!! I’m sure Code Blue will be a quality drama to watch, just not on the top of my very long list of items to check out!! ahaha
On the otherhand, two other dramas caught my eye. Aside from Code Blue, these two are the only ones with double digit ratings and attention drawing actors.
Tomorrow
Opening (opening theme sounds bloody catchy – kind of reminds me of Kou Shibasaki…I wonder…)
Like Code Blue, this is another medical drama but it stars Yutaka Takenouchi!! Geez, looking at the pictures just reminds me of how good looking he is!! hahaha I haven’t seen him in anything since Koori no Sekai (I don’t think)…Wow…I like his clean shaven look! He even looks younger?? Why is that guys can look better as they mature? That hardly applies to ladies, at least only in a limited way. He kind of reminds me of Takeshi Kaneshiro! ^_^ Plus, there’s also Miho Kanno – not only a pretty face but her acting has been recognised in her recent drama Hataraki Man. I can just tell it’s one of those heart warming let’s-go-save-the-world kind of dramas. Yutaka’s character meets a dedicated nurse (Miho) and together they decide to re-establish a hospital…ok, so the story’s not exactly ground breaking but I’m sure it’s worth watching! I’m busy right now but I’ve got this one queued up!! haha One thing that’s a bit of a pity, I don’t recognise the people producing the OST. Hopefully it won’t be a disappointment!! Well here’s the ending sequence! A good looking doctor & a motorbike?? haha I could do with one of those!!! LOL
Yasuko to Kenji
Opening (bizarre…??)
This comedy drama is a bit of an odd ball…you can probably tell by the picture! haha Well give me a sec to explain! It has Ryoko Hirosue which most of us haven’t seen in a while AND the storyline is kind of interesting! Very typical left field Japanese which I’m sure will create some interesting twists and turns. Basically the story involves two pairs of brothers and sisters. Both on their own – I believe their parents have passed away. On the left is a brother who has stopped becoming a gang leader and now works as a manga artist supporting his sister. He’s all gentle until he throws of his glasses (which he normally wears) when there’s a threat to his sister. The two in school uniforms fall for each other – kind of not surprising. The twist is that the sister, who is now a florist, also used to be the leader of a girls’ gang and used to be a couple with Mr. Manga. LOL Looks like this one will be interesting! This one started off with 12.3% and has remained relatively stable with an average of 12.0%.
Oh and I also found a brief clip with no subs – but it’s giving a good feel of this one! haha Yep I’m watching it!! LOL
Warning: To be appreciated by looneys….hahaha
