ANOTHER year has passed! Yasashii sekai… is now a ripe old age of THREE!!! Awwww! I would have never imagined to get this far!! I feel like this year has gone by very quickly. I feel a bit apologetic as I have been busier this year resulting in fewer posts. I hope you guys still find it entertaining and enjoy spending a few moments of your time here. *cross fingers*

Now what are the key highlights in the last 12 months? Let’s just quickly run through a few memorable stories from the last 12 months…

Let’s start with the mangas!!

Girl Friends

Oh I miss Mari and Akko!!! This manga series was sweet, lovey and dovey and obviously had some drama thrown in. On the whole we got we wanted and they even got down to some serious business. HOHOHOHOHO!! I would have loved to see them grow up into women in the workforce!!! I must say, the art here is amazing and there have been some scenes that are absolutely breathtaking…*thinks of the karaoke scene*

Octave

This manga series seriously brings up a mixed bag of feelings. It’s good at times and sucks in some chapters too. On the whole, it’s still an amazing piece of work with almost real like characters. Oh and best of all, it’s an adult woman with ANOTHER adult woman! Bring these on!!!

Sasameki Koto

FINALLY Ushio realises her feelings for Sumi!! BUT OMG this manga is going at one-tenth of the pace of a snail’s! I’ve almost forgotten where we’re up to! *pause* Actually…I have forgotten -_-” *SIGH* Pick up the speed please!!

Now onto the animes!!!

K-ON!!

Loved the gang although I did feel season 2 lacked the power to keep my attention and the music wasn’t as good. Nevertheless, I still think Mio and the gang (admittedly I have a soft spot for Mio) are heaps cool! Love the hoodie, Mio!! *wink*

So Ra no Wo To

I felt like this was the K-ON! gang but in another time and world!! hahaha Can you guys spot the parody pic up above?? hehehe Story wise I felt like it lacked a bit of excitement but it was pleasant to watch. Art was wow too!!

Sono Hanabira

Oooh la la… *wasn’t me look* Umm…go to Google images and do a search to find out what the big hoo haa is about. I should give the visual novel a go…anyone know whether I can get a Mac friendly version?

Highschool of the Dead

Scantily dressed and well endowed girls carrying guns and kicking arse…Oh! There are guys and some zombies around too! hahaha I didn’t expect this one to be so entertaining and despite the ecchi-ness I recall that there was some real depth in seeing the gang survive the zombies breakout. I’m looking forward to the OVA!

Angel Beats

Great art!! And of course Tenshi and her ma po tofu!! HAHAHA OOOOOH maybe I’ll make some this weekend!!! YUM!!

Psychic Detective Yakumo

I really enjoyed watching this paranormal detective show. The stories were moving and the soundtrack is just AMAZING!!! Must give this a go!! I bought the OST. ^_^

I’m not usually a huge fan of watching TV shows but this year was an exception!!

Rizzoli & Isles

A kick arse detective TV show with a super cool headstrong detective and a smarty pants elegant looking medical examiner!! LOVE this! And they’re coming back for a season 2! OH YEAH!!

The Real L Word

This was entertaining to some degree (I preferred some stories over others) but some were a BIT too much…I don’t regret watching it though!! hahaha My favourite couples: Stamie & Tracy and Nikki & Jill and Mikey & Raquel!!

Lip Service

This is just drama but is like the Real L Word but with a heavy layer of dark themes shrouding it…drugs…lots of alcohol and a hidden past. It’s a quality drama with nice to watch characters but I didn’t like the heaviness of this drama. Not really my thing.

However, the best of all in this category for me must be…

***Alicia and Kalinda from The Good Wife***

Trust me!! This is good!! It’s a legal drama show. Here’s a clip of their scenes in the first episode.

Hope you guys have enjoyed your time at Yasashii sekai…!!!! Thank you everyone for your support!!!

Yasashii sekai…’s 2 year old birthday post

Yasashii sekai…’s 1 year old birthday post

This OVA did NOT waste any time at ALL!! I just loaded the video and was ready to sit back and relax and what is the first thing I see?!?!!

*covers the eyes of all minors*

This anime is surely for the 18+ only. *nod nod* Although we spend almost 95% of the time watching Rei and Mai getting “up close and personal”, it is done all very tastefully and quite sweet. I do wish that I had a bit more background on how they became a couple. I feel that I have missed out!!! :( That’s it! Karkar and Ninnypanties!! You two have to give me a half page summary on the Rei and Mai arc!!!

For those yuri fans out there that are 18 and over, this is worth watching but please take care that you have privacy for about 20 minutes. It gets a tad H-O-T! hahahaha

I completely cracked up when I saw this scene:

HAHAHAHAHAHA Teenagers with raging hormones… :P Well in my opinion, this is better than Shoujo Sect!! Character designs are pretty too!!!

So does anyone know when the next OVA is out? Have they made an announcement yet??

There’s not much this season in my opinion, which means there’s no YURI!!! **CRIES** Well there’s a teeny bit in Strike Witches (another reason why I’m watching it).  k1y0 has been powering through a few animes already and feedback so far to me is “meh”!

I will at least give the below a try (broadly in order of preference from most to least wanting to watch):

(a) Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin (aka Occult Academy)

Launch date: 5 July 2010

Plot: It’s all about the supernatural – the daughter of the former headmaster of an occult academy who dies in 1999 and a man, his background unknown, that time travels from 2012.

Why I’m watching it: The plot sounds interesting! I generally do like supernatural things as long as it’s not TOO scary! haha I figured I’ll try something different for a change. There’s also Youko Hikasa!!! Mio from K-ON!! ^_^

(b) Strike Witches Season 2

Launch date: 7 July 2010

I haven’t watched this before but I’m sold by Sapphire Onee-chan’s post. ^_^ I’m still not a fan of the “missing pants” but I’ll give it a go…

(c) Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi

Launch date: 1 July 2010

Plot: Romance comedy with fairy tale parodies. Ryoko along with her partner (girl again), Ringo, runs around fixing things in the school. Oh and just to balance things out, obviously a guy is thrown in.

Why I’m watching it: No idea what to expect from the storyline but OMG the SEIYUU!!! It has a heap of seiyuu that I like!!! Shizuka Ito, Aki Toyosaki (Yui from K-ON!), Ayako Kawasumi (Chikane from Kannazuki no Miko!!), Rie Kugimiya (Touko in Marimite and Yuuki in Saki) AND Yui Horie (*JAW DROP* Yuuki from Vampire Knight, Eri from School Rumble)!!!! Recognise the voice in the trailer!?!! hehe

Oh and of course I will be watching Sono Hanabira

OH BOY…I watched the trailer…my comments…character designs are very cute and DEFINITELY NOT WORK SAFE!!! But I’ll keep an eye out on this one… ::embarrassed:: Trailer is available for download over at SHiN-gx. *goes get a glass of ice cold water*

Must say though, this and Kuttsukiboshi is definitely saving us from the yuri drought we’ve been having in the last few months. ^_^

Okazu has confirmed that the much anticipated adult yuri anime will be out in Japan on 30 July!!! I have penciled this into my “Important Dates” section to the left. hahahaha *suppresses excitement* ::innocent look:: HAHAHAHAHAHA KIDDING!!

The pair in the anime is Rei x Mai…

So I was pondering for a good while whether or not to post about this and eventually I thought…

What the HECK!?! They already know I watched Shoujo Sect…and read manga like Gokujou Drops, Hanjuku Joshi… *shakes head* And I’m SURE everyone person who visits my blog will be interested in this…might as well…

OK! So here it is!! It has been officially announced that the highly popular yuri visual novel, Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo, will be made into an anime!!

I haven’t played this visual novel myself but it is known for its EXTREMELY pretty and quality graphics and…umm…you know…has certain similarities to Shoujo Sect. *looks left right* hahahahaha I first came across it when I found some doujin and I thought the character designs were very very cute. (no need for excuses Nakayo…)

Listless Ink has reviewed all the Hanabira visual novels (there are also download links available) and from what I gather, there is MUCH more of a story line compared to Shoujo Sect!! I’m actually kind of looking forward to this one (*sigh* – another “might as well” moment) but will have to see how far they take the anime!! Actually, does anyone know how explicit it will get in the anime? Will it match the visual novel?? If so then it will be quite O_O x 9999999999!!! I would honestly prefer it if they tamed it down a bit!!! I’m SERIOUS!! If you want to see what the visual novel is like, it’s not hard…just google and you will find… X_X

I know someone who has played the game so I’m asking her to do a short review so that hopefully we have a better idea on what to expect!! That’s all for now!!! *whispers: I’ll keep you posted!*

Gokigenyou!

Hello! Now let's cut to the chase! If you're here to squeal about yuri or update yourself on some Japanese dramas/movies and gossip - then this is the place to be!!! I personally prefer the squealing over yuri amongst other things!! HEHEHE (^_^)V
