I’ve been meaning to summarise what is catching my eye in the coming season but spare time has been hard to find lately!! Luckily both Yuri no Boke and hashihime has both summarised what’s coming this season. I’ll simply highlight those that I will be checking out. I might not be entirely accurate on the plot summaries…just a warning…The following is broadly in the order of the most appealing first…

Hourou Musuko

Episode 1 on 13 January

Story: Shuicihi Nitori appears to be a shy and quiet preteen boy, when he transfers to a new school he quickly makes friends with the tomboyish Yoshino Takatsuki who sits next to him. It soon becomes apparent that both Shucihi and Yoshino are more than simply a sensitive boy and masculine girl, they both are transgendered. Together they decide to take the first steps toward becoming the people they want to be (taken from ANN).

Reasons for watching: There are a number of reasons to watch this one!! Firstly, the mangaka is the one from Aoi Hana, Takako Shimura!! There’s no yuri but the anime focuses on some transgender issues!? Sounds interesting!! Plus if you go to the website and check out their trailer, the art is soft and endearing with a very classical music OST. I love the use of strings!!  How can you NOT watch it!?!? Seiyuu wise, it’s also quite attractive with Aki Toyosaki (Yui from K-ON!), Nana Mizuki (Fate from Magical Girl Lyrical), Saeko Chiba (Natsuki from Mai-Hime), Yoshino Nanjou (Maria from Canaan), Yui Horie (need I say more!?) but they seem to all just play supportive roles. The main two characters are played by new voice actors, I think?

This episode WHOOSHED by before I even realised!! Too short!!! :( Surprising, it was another chapter where not a lot happened BUT…SHIDO reappears!!! Aaaah!! That nasty evil teacher!!! We receive another reminder of how horrible he just is – one of his students must have talked back at him and as a result he got thrown to the zombies!!! X_X To make it worse, him and his busload of losers managed to get inside the gates of the Takagi household!!! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

That good for nothing Shido used one of the student’s oversized breasts to talk the security guard into letting him in. Luckily he’s evil side is seen through by Takagi’s father and him and his students are thrown outside of the gates!!!! YEAH!!! For a second I thought he’d be able to stay and work his evil ways again. Phew. If only he would just die and disappear…*sigh*

This episode is PRETTY ECCHI!!! YET AGAIN!!! Saeko Saeko…she’s seriously popping out of that apron!! So continuing from episode 8, the gang drives the humvee across the river!!! NICE!!! That humvee sure is getting handy!! Once they’re crossed the waters, the girls get changed back in their clothes. I forgotten why they couldn’t wear it in the first place – I think they were being cleaned but if you ask me, it was just asking for a dramatic effect when we see them back in their busty uniforms armed with guns and weapons. hahaha

It’s all quiet on the other side and they decide to make way to Takagi’s place as her house is the nearest. All is going well until they start running into many zombies regardless of which turn they make. They finally reach one street and almost crash into a metal barricade. All goes wrong here. Rei flies out the front windscreen from the sudden braking of the humvee (kind of wish the sensei could drive better!!!) AND the humvee breaks down. NICE! Now they’re surrounded by hundreds of zombies!!! AAAAAAAH!!!

Now this is where the ecchi is taken to another level. As Sapphire Onee-chan said, “it’s ecchi with a PURPOSE!!” LOL Rei’s breasts are used to hold up the rifle and maybe cushions the recoil!?! O_O And Saeko’s can DODGY bullets!! O_O x 9999999

The best bit to this episode was just as everything seemed to be the end for them, some “firefighters” appear and helps the group over the metal barricade!!! *tears of happiness again* And guess who is one of the rescuers!!?! TAGAKI’S MUM!!! A RED HEAD!!! hahaahaha I can’t wait to hear their side of the story and how they put up the barricade etc. Can’t wait for episode 9!!!

After five episodes of zombies, distress and chaos, we get a fairly light hearted episode 6!!! From a quick glance, you would think that this is a different anime but NO! Yes – those are Dr. Boing Boing’s boobs, and yes – Miss Fighter in the bottom right hand corner, is wearing next to nothing!!

I want to know what happens in the next episode…their apartment is surrounded by zombies…thanks to a barking dog. *sigh*

There’s not much this season in my opinion, which means there’s no YURI!!! **CRIES** Well there’s a teeny bit in Strike Witches (another reason why I’m watching it).  k1y0 has been powering through a few animes already and feedback so far to me is “meh”!

I will at least give the below a try (broadly in order of preference from most to least wanting to watch):

(a) Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin (aka Occult Academy)

Launch date: 5 July 2010

Plot: It’s all about the supernatural – the daughter of the former headmaster of an occult academy who dies in 1999 and a man, his background unknown, that time travels from 2012.

Why I’m watching it: The plot sounds interesting! I generally do like supernatural things as long as it’s not TOO scary! haha I figured I’ll try something different for a change. There’s also Youko Hikasa!!! Mio from K-ON!! ^_^

(b) Strike Witches Season 2

Launch date: 7 July 2010

I haven’t watched this before but I’m sold by Sapphire Onee-chan’s post. ^_^ I’m still not a fan of the “missing pants” but I’ll give it a go…

(c) Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi

Launch date: 1 July 2010

Plot: Romance comedy with fairy tale parodies. Ryoko along with her partner (girl again), Ringo, runs around fixing things in the school. Oh and just to balance things out, obviously a guy is thrown in.

Why I’m watching it: No idea what to expect from the storyline but OMG the SEIYUU!!! It has a heap of seiyuu that I like!!! Shizuka Ito, Aki Toyosaki (Yui from K-ON!), Ayako Kawasumi (Chikane from Kannazuki no Miko!!), Rie Kugimiya (Touko in Marimite and Yuuki in Saki) AND Yui Horie (*JAW DROP* Yuuki from Vampire Knight, Eri from School Rumble)!!!! Recognise the voice in the trailer!?!! hehe

Oh and of course I will be watching Sono Hanabira

Gokigenyou!
