LOL! This was by far my favorite episode. I love it when the characters truly love each other..albeit it is a very weird relationship, but it’s still sweet.

To me, Shoujo Sect was a mixed bag of emotions. I prefer the manga but in both, there were moments where I’m just…”hmm…” Compared Girl Friends, I MUCH prefer the latter.

Definitely prefer the latter. You will really like Strawberry Shake Sweet.

I’ve just started checking out this other yuri manga called Sasameki Koto. Have you heard of this one? Will DEFINITELY check out Strawberry Shake Sweet!

@Sleepy
I’ve been using this software called VLC media player, it usually works, but for some reason doesn’t work on this file.
Your suggestion worked! Now I can finally figure out what is going on, thanks!

I’m glad I helped! I have to say that this time when I watched it again with subs, I was really put off by the whole story. I was shaking my head and didn’t even end up finishing it. *sigh*

I agree that they didn’t do a good job finishing up this story, it could have been better, especially with the part about the girl with short purple blue ish hair. Which part turned you off?

I think I was put off on different levels. One thing I didn’t like was how they deviated from the manga, particularly with the ending. My favourite bit was gone!! The other was that I’m just not into that style of anime/manga. I much prefer reading about the tension between the characters when they’re proceeding to being more than just friends. Also, the pure randomness of this anime, with the characters sleeping around was just a bit too much. Overall, good things about this anime – quality of the art was not bad and some cute moments but otherwise not that fantastic. What about you?

Hmm I did not read the manga, so I don’t know what exactly happened there, does it have a better story than the anime?
Characters that aren’t fully developed are very common with short animes, so I guess I didn’t really look at that part of it that harshly. As with the problem that they’re all randomly sleeping with everyone, I was thinking about saying that too in my last post, but I mean seriously what do you expect from an anime that is in the hentai genre. I am normally against something like that if I’m reading that in a manga setting, but I guess I just let it go because of the genre.
The art…. I’d say it’s decent, but, it’s not really a pro, because most animes these days because of the technology, can achieve good graphics like that easily, although I do like the color palette used in the anime. The colors used in the anime are very soft, it fits the theme of shoujo ai quite well.
I’d probably rate it somewhere between the 6~7 range.

Hmm…story? hahaha Well there’s not a whole lot of story in either I guess. The changes they made from the manga to the anime are actually quite strange. I’m not a big fan of the manga so don’t remember every point but in some instances, they switched the characters around in the anime! E.g. the story about the ghost in the art room. Another key change which annoyed me is the ending. If you liked the anime, you should check out the manga. I reckon one or two of the pages near the end really made my heart go ‘doki doki’. It even made me gasp! I also liked the closing theme song. hahaha A bit random but I like those kind of things. Overall, l think the manga and anime probably warranted a 5? Nway, I think I should basically stick to straight shoujo-ai/yuri. My current favourite? Girl Friends!

That reminds me I started reading that a while back. I stopped at chapter 6, at that point, the story is just cute. After seeing what you said, I picked up what I left off, caught up with what’s happening. The story kinda took an unexpected turn and became all serious. Haha I can’t wait to find out what happens next!

LOL When I first read your comment, I was like, “Shoujo Sect, cute?” hahaha THEN looking back at where I left off I finally realised you meant Girl Friends! Don’t read too quickly cos the next chapter isn’t out till 22 Feb!!! SLOW DOWN! Though it’s probably too late! hahaha I love Girl Friends. As silly as it looks, I think the contents are actually quite real…

Haha thanks for the warning, but alas it is too late for me, this is why I hate reading unfinished stories/animes. It is so frustrating waiting for the next volume to come out. I posted my last comment after finish reading chapter 18, the end of that chapter makes me feel so sad. I hope what’s to come is worth the wait.

I’m so with you there! When I finished ch 18, I was like “WHAT THE…!?!” NOT HAPPY!! Plus they’re skipping the January release so it’ll be at least March till we get the next 20 odd pages. What a LONG WAIT!! Aaaah! In the meantime, I’m giving Sasameki Koto a go – another yuri manga. Looks promising…

I’ve read Cotton a while back, I don’t quite remember it that well anymore, but I still remember that I liked it a lot at the time, you should give it a try. Since it is quite short, you can finish it in no time, plus it’s finished publishing already.

Thank YOU!! Will definitely check it out! It’s so sad…we have to wait till February!! Have you read Milk Moringa’s Nana and Hitomi one-shots?! They’re not bad too!! Must read if you like Girl Friends though the latter is better.

Oi Person A! Not sure whether you will see this message but I checked out the synopsis of Cotton and it sounds pretty damn good!! Thank you for the recommendation! I’ll let you know once I finish with it!!

haha I originally thought I haven’t read that, but now that I looked into it, I found out that I’ve actually read them before(Nana and Hitomi), although I don’t remember the story anymore, so I’ll probably read them again. Thanks for the suggestion.
Do you only like yuri romance? Or do you like regular romance stories as well?
January 17, 2009 at 1:58 AM

I’m basically a fan of romantic storylines – whether comedy or dramatic in movies and dramas etc but I have noticed a growing soft spot for yuri romance. I think once I’ve gone through all possible mediums of yuri material, I’ll go back to mainstream romance stories. ^_^
