The new season is just around the corner and I have bad news!! There are quite a few “potential” dramas!!! oh no!!! (-.-“) hahaha Seriously, I think this is a good season. It’s just going to be difficult for me to decide which one/s to watch! haha NB: Below information is largely taken from the Jdrama Fansub Map 2008 and Dramawiki.

The ones I am interested in (roughly in order of my preference):

(a) Last Friends
Story: Revolves around three housemates in their twenties. Michiru is a timid girl who has been through violence with her past boyfriend and is therefore fearful of love; Ruka has a boy-ish charm and is working towards being a professional motorbike racer – she has a secret kept away from her family and friends; Takeru (a guy) is a make-up artist and gets along with the girls with his sensitive personality – he secretly likes Ruka…

 Genre: Drama
Actors: Nagasawa Masumi as Michiru (from Proposal Daisakusen)
Ueno Juri as Ruka (from Nodame Cantabile)
Eita as Takeru (from Orange Days)
Why I am interested? First of all, the actors!! They’re all my favourites! The trailer also seems to suggest something questionable between Michiru and Ruka…hmm…Finally, the theme song is sung by Utada Hikaru, ‘Prisoner of Love’, so I’m hoping it’s going to be another ‘First Love’!! The song sounds pretty good and with a title like that?? Geez…I want to watch it now!! haha

(b) Around 40
Story: 39-year-old Ogata Satoko is a highly capable psychiatrist who is single. She’s forthright, a caring older sister and reliable in her job. Her interests are staying in luxurious Japanese inns and watching stand-up comedy videos. She hasn’t had a boyfriend in the past five years. Nevertheless, she derives satisfaction from work and isn’t worried about her finances. Satoko is happily enjoying the single life. One day, Satoko goes to her favourite hot-spring inn. There she coincidentally encounters a breakup between a handsome but somewhat odd man, Okamura Keitaro, and his girlfriend…
Genre: Comedy and I’m guessing there is some romance – I mean, come on!!
Actors: Amani Yuki as Ogata Satoko (from Queen’s Classroom and Top Caster)
Fujiki Naohito as Okamura Keitaro (the “odd” man) (from Hotaru no Hikari)

Why I am interested? I like both main characters! Although Amani Yuki is not drop dead pretty, I think she is a great actress and can really add another dimension to a character! Oh and Fujiki I like too!! “Bu-jo”!!! hahahaha

(c) Osen
Story: Handa Sen is the owner of a local restaurant in Tokyo. Though she is normally airheaded and loves to drink, she has an impressive mastery of a wide range skills, from cooking to ceramics to calligraphy. While the drama follows various events surrounding the restaurant, one of the series’ highlights is its illustration of Japanese food and culture.
Genre: Food and comedy
Actors: Aoi Yu as Handa Sen (from Jmovie Hula Hula Girls)
Why am I interested? Aoi Yu is a great actress! She’s quite young but has been part of many award winning productions. She reminds me of the korean actresses from Sassy Girl and Full House. Very pleasant to watch!

(d) Zettai Kareshi (Perfect Boyfriend)

Story: Izawa Riko is a temp worker in search of a boyfriend, and she ends up in possession of a “robot” known as Night Tenjo, who is programmed to be the perfect boyfriend. However, this creates a love triangle with a young man at her company who has feelings for her…

Genre: Romance

Actors: Hayami Mokomichi as Tenjo Night (from Jmovie Rough and Hataraki Man)

Why I am interested? *sigh* What else but Mokomichi?? haha There are still 1 or 2 more dramas that look decent but these are the key ones I’m going to watch out for. As I will be studying very hard in the next two months, I think I will only watch
