Oooh!! Just realized that episode 1 of Saki has been subbed!! It’s available on YouTube. I’ve only watched the first 10 minutes but I’m liking it!!! With a cast involving Kana Ueda, Ami Koshimizu, Rie Kugumiya and Shizuka Ito, I feel like it’s almost a Marimite reunion!!! We just need Mamiko Noto or Kaori Shimizu!! Oh and Sachiko & Yoshino!! Haha *sigh* forgive me. I’m still suffering from my Marimite s4 withdrawal symptoms!!
Anyway check out Saki!! I’ll try to write up a full post later on episode 1. Oh and more importantly, what’s the go with Saki blushing when she sees Nodoka?!? Is it just me with hyper sensitive yuri goggles or are others sensing something too???? I’m not a follower of the manga so have NO idea what’s ahead!!?!?

I didn’t look it up, but maybe Thingle meant that you’re watching it on youtube, and that’s bad video quality?
Ever since I found out that I can torrent anime and watch a much better version(in terms of quality of video) if I just have the patience to wait a little bit for it to download, I’ve been doing that and abandoned streaming.
well… I’ll probably still stream if for some reason I wanted to watch bad shows…

Even without understanding the inner workings of Majjong I still find the anime to be entertaining (haven’t looked over the manga so not sure where its going).
And dont worry, I dont think its only the yuri goggles haha there are far too many blushing moment with Saki and Nodoka ;)

I LOVE Saki!! It was SO funny! Loved how they ended it too on episode 1! hahaha I actually know how to play the basics of mahjong but I have no clue on the technicalities of it. But like Anon says, even without knowing all the rules, I’m still finding it to be VERY entertaining!! haha

One thing I couldn’t help mentioning was the size of Nodoka’s “assets”?!! They’re a bit TOO big?? Also, can those SCHOOL SKIRTS get any shorter?!?!?! But aside from that, I’m keeping my eyes glued to this one!!! ^____________^

The board game aspect looks like a direct rip-off of an earlier series called Shion No Ou, they just changed the game from japanese chess to mahjong.
Character designs don’t help either. They look like generic otaku loser stuff.

Anyway, “G.O.L.S.” (generic otaku loser stuff) are in abundance b/c of the recession over there, just look at animesuki or fansubwiki. We can practically count the number of decent series this season using our fingers.

Yea, because it seems to be the only series that has above average production and does not try to pander to G.O.L’s by pumping their shows full of cliche/fanservice/stupid boobies/etc.
Ristorante Paradiso is nice too. Potentially strong plot, but a bit lacking in production quality.
